What rules apply to transportation on the road?

Transportation on the road is subject to European laws and regulations, such as the European Directive 96/53/EC on weights and measures of vehicles, the driving and rest periods (EC) No. 561/2006, and national regulations of the countries concerned. There are also international conventions such as the CMR Convention that apply to international road transport.
